In September 2024, the hydrogen energy sector saw a surge in policy announcements. According to Polar Star Hydrogen Network, ten hydrogen-related policies were introduced at national and local levels that month, highlighting hydrogen energy as a key focus for many governments.

On September 9th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the 'Guidance Directory for Promoting Application of Major Technological Equipment (2024 Edition)', emphasizing various hydrogen technologies like compressors and ammonia fuel-powered vessels. This marks a significant step towards industrializing hydrogen technology.

Furthermore, on September 14th, the ministry announced plans to accelerate pilot platforms in emerging industries such as clean low-carbon hydrogen. This initiative aims to foster innovation through collaboration among industry, academia, and research institutions while enhancing technology transfer and commercialization.

Governments are actively implementing policies to support the hydrogen sector. The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region's Energy Bureau has drafted rules for wind-solar ammonia projects, mandating that all raw material hydrogen must come from renewable sources. Chengdu’s Economic and Information Bureau plans a demonstration project to promote 500 commercial fuel cell vehicles by 2024 through an "open competition" approach.

Foshan's Nanhai District Development Reform Bureau is supporting high-energy-consuming enterprises adopting ammonia-hydrogen integration technologies. Longhua District in Shenzhen has outlined initiatives aimed at fostering high-quality development in new energy sectors, particularly focusing on hydrogen energy.

Cities like Jiaxing in Zhejiang Province and Dalian in Liaoning Province have also introduced policies offering comprehensive support for the hydrogen industry.

The release of these policies not only bolsters the growth of the hydrogen sector but also demonstrates local governments' commitment to its potential. With ongoing policy implementation and technological advancements, the future of the hydrogen industry looks increasingly promising.
