Cost is often an important factor to consider before making any purchase, including when you’re looking for an adjustable bed.
Adjustable beds vary in price, with basic and simple designed models starting from around £600. In most cases, cheaper adjustable beds are built from lower quality materials and come with short warranties. Before choosing the right adjustable bed, be sure to look at the warranty, customer reviews and maximum weight capacity.

While functionality and comfort are crucial factors to consider when selecting an adjustable bed, it's equally important to pay attention to the bed's style and aesthetics.
Choosing a bed that complements your existing decor and personal style can contribute to a cohesive and visually appealing space.
We advise considering the design elements of the adjustable bed, such as the frame material, colour options and overall aesthetic. Opt for a style that aligns with your preferences, whether it's sleek and modern, classic and traditional or somewhere in between.

Adjustable beds are becoming increasingly popular, and for good reason. They offer a number of benefits, including improved sleep quality, reduced pain, and increased comfort but do you know how to choose the right adjustable bed for you?
With so many different adjustable beds on the market, it can be tough to know which one to go for. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to help you choose the perfect adjustable bed for your needs.
Here are a few factors to consider when choosing an adjustable bed:
Adjustable beds come in a variety of sizes, so it’s important to choose one that’s the right size for your bedroom and your needs. If you share a bed with a partner, you’ll need to choose a bed that’s large enough for both of you.
Adjustable beds have different weight capacities, so be sure to choose one that can support your weight and the weight of your partner (if applicable).
Adjustable beds come with a variety of features, such as massage, underbed storage, and USB ports. Consider which features are important to you and choose a bed that has them.
Adjustable beds vary quite dramatically in price depending on what you want from one. At HWB Mobility, we cater for all budgets.
Once you’ve considered these factors, you’ll be able to start narrowing down your choices. Be sure to read reviews and compare different beds before you make a decision.
Size matters. Particularly when it comes to the width and length of your bed. Be sure to consider the space you have available as well as what your sleeping arrangements are and the size of bed that you are used to.
If you sleep next to someone, consider a dual adjustable bed. A bed is 2 separate mattresses with independent mechanisms to operate each side. If you frequently get up from bed in the night, a dual or twin electric bed means you are less likely to disturb your partner in the process. If you sleep next to someone and you opt for an adjustable bed with 1 mattress, raising or lowering the head or foot sections means the whole mattress will adjust.
It is important to remember that the weight capacities on adjustable beds with one mattress is for the whole bed and not per person whereas with a dual adjustable bed, the weight capacity is per side as they are operated separately.
As standard, the length of electric adjustable beds is generally longer than divan beds too. They are typically 6 ft 6″ as apposed to your typical 6 ft 3″ static bed. Not only is this important when considering the space you have available but also your bedding requirements. If you would like to know who we would recommend for all your bedding needs, look no further than In Dreams Bedding.
Adjustable beds are available in the following bed widths although if you require something else, we will work with you to help you get the size you need:-

Weight limits on adjustable beds are important to adhere to as the mechanism will struggle to raise up if they are exceeded. Remember, the advised weight capacity on any given bed with 1 mattress is for the entire bed and not per person, even if it’s a double bed or bigger. Choose a dual bed if your combined weight exceeds the stated weight limit for that bed.
The weight limits for our Electro range of adjustable beds is 18 stone with an optional heavy duty upgrade to 25 stone. The Balmoral has a 25 stone weight capacity as standard and the 4ft small double Motion Divan has a 220kg or 34 and a half stone maximum user weight.
Adjustable beds come with a variety of features, which can make them even more comfortable and convenient. Some of the most common features include:
In addition to these common features, some adjustable beds also come with more advanced features, such as:
When choosing an adjustable bed, it is important to consider the features that are important to you. If you have specific needs, such as back pain or snoring, make sure to choose a bed that has the features you need.
Something that is often overlooked is the type of flooring your mobility bed is going onto. Castors are fine for carpets but you’ll soon find out how poor they are at gripping wooden floors the minute you attempt to get in. It’s actually a safety risk because if the bed moves from under you, you could fall and injure yourself. Glides or wooden feet are much better suited to hard floors.
Do you need to have hoist access underneath your bed? The Sherwood has optional cut outs in the side panels, making it the perfect hoist compatible adjustable bed!
Price is arguably the most important factor when investing in an adjustable bed. Once you’ve decided on what features you need, what size, weight capacity and mattress type required, you’ll have some idea of what your new adjustable bed is likely to cost you.
We spend, on average, a third of our lives in bed. If we’re lucky enough to live till we’re 99 years old, we will have spent 33 years in our pits. Needless to say, our sleep havens should be heavily invested in. I can hear you, you’re an adjustable bed retailer, you’re bound to say that! Guilty as charged. It’s true though, isn’t it?
If any features are desirable to you rather than essential, leaving them out will lower the cost. Opting for a smaller bed would bring the price down too.
