I got these to dedicate to securing my motorcycle in a pickup or flatbed trailer. They do that very well and are the fastest working straps I've used. The auto retract works well to speedily take out the line slack or roll up for storage. The takeout system is also quite fast, just hook one side, push a button and pull out the strap you need to secure the other end. Very, very cool. You never have to thread the strap, both ends are permanently part of the ratchet system. If you are looking for light duty, really fast straps to secure your ride, these are great. I can't speak much for longevity, but I've been using them regularly for 2 months with little to no rain. So far, the straps still look great, and they continue to work like new. If dedicated to securing motorcycles, they might last a very long time.
Negatives are there.
• They are large, heavy, and bulky compared to simpler straps.
• The straps for the bars are light and short.
• Length is fixed at the length you purchased with no ability to mix and match to get a longer or shorter strap run.
• I worry about longevity since there is a lot more to fail, although I've had plenty of simple systems fail too so longevity is probably a factor of exposure to the elements and how they are used.
• Best for specialized purpose use, not general-purpose straps or straps you can leave out in the weather for months on end.
