Structure: The sand mill is usually composed of silo (feed area), grinding chamber, separator, discharge port and drive system. The grinding chamber is filled with grinding medium (such as sand, glass beads or other grinding media).

Material feed: The material to be ground enters the grinding chamber through the feed port. During this process, the material is in full contact with the mill.

Grinding process:

Grinding motion: The grinding medium moves rapidly under the action of the drive system. The motion of the mill can be high speed rotation, vibration or agitation.

Shear and impact: The moving grinding medium exerts shear force and impact force on the material, so that the material is subjected to strong grinding effect in the grinding chamber. In this process, the particles of the material will be continuously dispersed and refined.

Dispersion and mixing: With the grinding process, the particles in the material are gradually refined and uniformly dispersed under the action of the grinding medium. This process can also make different materials mixed with each other to a certain extent.
